One of the joys of having been in business for over 12 years, is that I have had the opportunity to photograph people's lives over years and even generations.
Matthew was one of my Alaska senior clients and was also my son's best friend growing up. His passion for serving others and God has been a beautiful thing to watch grow as he became a man and a pastor. I moved from Alaska to Colorado in summer of 2016 so I keep up with my northern friends on Instagram. I was overjoyed to see his post in November, sharing the news that he had found his someone. JoJo.
JoJo just happens to be from Nederland, Colorado! What a coincidence, right?! I was honored when they chose me as their wedding photographer and was delighted to have my son, his lovely wife, Hannah, and my precious 9 month old grand daughter come for a visit to be a part of the wedding day.
I loved that JoJo's family chose to keep the event lo-key, natural, and simple- like Nederland- like JoJo and Matthew. The night before the wedding, an early spring snow storm brought us a beautiful white wedding morning. The private ceremony was held at a family cabin surrounded by family and dear friends. I experienced a first; during the vows, I noticed the matron of honor looking distraught and she bent down to dig in the snow. I thought it was joke when she revealed that she dropped the ring; ha-ha- very funny. BUT this was for real! I loved JoJo's response- pure belly laughter. It was so refreshing to see her uncle bring up his wedding ring and the ceremony continue with the 'make-do' ring.
It was beautifully appropriate to have these two worship leaders and lovers of God to sing a worship song together before they made their exit. Not a dry eye in the place.
They chose a lovely mountain setting for their portraits before we headed to their continued celebration.
I hope you enjoy this sweet, simple love.
